DAILY WEATHER FOR NIGERIA

CURRENT WEATHER SITUATION OVER THE COUNTRY (30.10.2016)

Moist Southwesterly winds blowing from the Atlantic Ocean are retracting and their position have reversed and moved Northwards within the past 24hours; for today, they have moved North to Lat. 11.7oN (South of Kano) in the Western sector and also to Lat. 12.1oN (Ndjamena - Chad) in the Eastern sector respectively, within Nigeria and Chad republic. The Subtropical anticyclone (also known as Azores high pressure cell over Africa) located in the Northern Hemisphere have relaxed and displaced Northwards, thereby allowing the moist Southwesterlies to oscillate Northwards. It’s generally hazy, with good visibility in most stations across Niger republic and Northern Nigeria.

The satellite imagery of today at 1500GMT shows convective cells developing over Kogi and Kwara states, over areas in Mambilla plateau and extends across the border into Cameroon republic, over areas in the Southwest, Southeast and across the South-South states.

OUTLOOK (31.10.2016)

Hot and mostly hazy conditions will affect most parts of the Northern states with good visibility. Sunny and hazy, fair to partly cloudy conditions will prevail in the Central states. The Southern parts will be mainly cloudy in the morning; however, thunderstorms are expected to affect places in the Southwest and the Coastal states during the afternoon/evening periods.
