Moist Southwesterly winds originating and blowing from the Atlantic Ocean are established and have continue to move slightly Northwards relative to it’s position of 03/08/2016, within Niger and Chad republics; for today, they have moved to North of Lat. 18.7oN in the Western sector, while also moving it's position to North of Lat. 18.0oN in the Eastern sector, all outside the country. The Inter Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) which is the indicator to measure the extent of the moist Southwesterly winds has maintained it’s position to North of Bilma (18.7oN) in Niger republic whilst also moving it’s position to North of Faya (18.0oN) in Chad republic, both to the Western and Eastern sector respectively (These are the farthest and Northernmost synoptic observing stations in Niger and Chad respectively). The South Atlantic anticyclone (also known as St. Helena high) in the Southern Hemisphere remained established and continued to extend it’s ridge of high pressure into West Africa. As the ITD continue to maintain it’s Northward position, more moisture influx into all parts of Nigeria, Niger and Chad republics are sustained.
