Dr Anthony C. Anuforom is the Director General/CEO of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet). He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and is also the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). He received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Atmospheric Physics/Meteorology from Rivers State University of Science and Technology in 2006. He has Postgraduate Certificates in Agricultural Meteorology and Environmental Sciences. Prior to his appointment as Director General/CEO of Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), and the Permanent Representative of Nigeria with the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), Dr. Anuforom was the Director of Applied Meteorological Services of the Agency.
NiMet has made giant strides towards improving its services in support of the 7-Point Agenda of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for sustainable development under Dr Anuforom's leadership. Since 2007, Dr. Anuforom has brought tremendous transformation to meteorological services in Nigeria leading to ISO 9001:2008 certification of Aeronautical Meteorological Services of NiMet in 2013. He played a key role in the development of the proposed National Framework for the Application of Climate Services (NFACS) which is designed to enable Nigeria better manage climate related risks and harness the associated opportunities in the context of achieving sustainable socio-economic development.
