Agrometeorological Bulletin No.14, Dekad 2, May (11 –20) 2013

The second dekad of May, 2013 indicated increase in rainfall amount in most parts of the country. Three stations with highest rainfall amounts were recorded in Abeokuta, Calabar and Umuahia with 263.4mm, 220.3mm and 189.5mm respectively. Rainfall distribution was generally good across the country except the extreme Northern part. Temperatures had decreased from central to the southern parts, while the extreme North maintained values. Preparation for rain fed agriculture is the predominant activity in the extreme northern part of the country. while in the central and southern parts harvesting of maize crop and vegetables had commenced. Also weeding of cassava and yam farms is ongoing activities in the south......
