Regional Meteorological Training Centre Lagos
Brief History
In the mid-1950s, the National Meteorological Training School was established at Oshodi, Lagos, Nigeria, to train Class IV Meteorologists. The School was part of the then Nigerian Department of Meteorological Services. In 1964, a Regional Meteorological Training Centre (RMTC) was established in Ikeja to train Class III and Class II Meteorologists. These two training centres were merged in 1975 and designated Meteorological Research and Training Institute (MRTI) at Oshodi, Lagos, Nigeria.

Regular Training Programmes
This program has the following long term courses
- Job-Entry Meteorological Technicians Course (WMO Class IV)
Prerequisite: WASC/GCE O-Level or its equivalent with credit in Physics, Mathematics, English Language and two other Science Subjects
Duration: 12 months
- Medium Level Meteorological Technicians Course (WMO Class III)
Prerequisite: WMO Class IV Certificate + WASC/GCE O-Level or its equivalent with credit equivalent with credit in Physics, Mathematics, English Language and two other Science Subjects
Duration: 12 months
- Senior Level Meteorological Technicians Course (WMO Class II)
Prerequisite: WMO Class III Certificate + One year of practical experience after medium level Meteorological Technicians or WASC/GCE A-Level or its equivalent with credit in Physics and Mathematics
Duration: 12 months
