INTERNATIONAL AND PROTOCOL UNIT

Introduction: 

The International Unit is an arm of the office of the Director-General/Chief Executive officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) geared towards supporting the Agency to achieve its vision and mission. This is done through the promotion and profiling of the Agency’s activities overseas and cooperation and collaboration with our international counterparts on the science of meteorology. This implies that the unit handles international matters concerning the Agency.

Vision Statement:

Mission Statement: 

The mission of the Unit is to:

  • Pro-actively build and maintain strategic relationships with International Organizations.
  • Develop the ability to access key international institutions such as WMO, ACMAD, UNEP, IPCC, UNFCCC, and EUMETSAT, and advance relationships with these institutions on weather and climate issues.
  • Deliver targeted and strategic research and information on weather and climate in contribution to efforts of the international community.
  • Seek areas of cooperation and collaboration with international contacts that advance the Agency’s programs and activities.
  • Encourage capacity building through courses, seminars, workshops, etc in meteorology, climate and other related fields and to assist in coordinating the international aspects of such research and training.
  • Solicit for international projects, resource mobilization and project management.
