Summary
The bulletin for the first dekad of January 2022 is presented in this edition. Below normal soil moisture condition was recorded in most parts of the country except, Rivers and parts of Bayelsa states where normal to above normal soil moisture condition was observed. Temperature increased southwards with the northern states recording lower temperatures. The highest mean maximum temperature was recorded in River state (36.5°C) with the lowest in Katsina state (27.8°C). In the second dekad of January, the Inter-Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) is expected to have a slight northward pull bringing in more south westerly winds although most parts of the country will still be under the influence of dry north easterly winds. Therefore, thick dust haze is expected over the Northern region throughout the forecast period.
