2nd Dekad Oct 2021

Summary

The 2 nd dekad of October, 2021 shows a decrease in rainfall total across the country when compared with the 1 st dekad of October. Normal to below normal rainfall anomalies prevailed in most parts of the country except some parts of the north and south-west (areas in green colour) were above normal rainfall anomalies was recorded. Mean maximum temperature ranging from (28.4°C) over Akwa Ibom state to (37.3°C) in Maiduguri State was recorded in the dekad under review. Sokoto, Katsina, Jigawa, Kano and Yobe are already in the end of season with Borno, Adamawa, Kebbi, Zamfara, Bauchi and Kaduna expected to follow in the next dekad. The Inter Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) is expected to retreat southwards and as such, dry north easterly winds is expected to dominate the north, resulting in further dryness in these areas going forward.
