Agrometeorological Bulletin No.24, Dekad 3, August (21 –30) 2018

The 3rd dekad of agrometeorological bulletin for August, 2018 shows most parts of the country recorded heavy rainfall total with highest observed at Dutse with about 398.8mm of rainfall and lowest over Osogbo with 32.4mm of rainfall. Above normal soil moisture conditions were experienced in most parts of the country except places around Sokoto and Yola and parts of the south west where below normal soil moisture conditions were observed.

Drought and Flood Monitoring Bulletin MARCH, 2018

The March Drought and Flood Monitoring Bulletin (DFMB) has been prepared using the WMO recommended Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) technique. During the period under review, few places in the north witnessed scattered rainfall events, with attendant improvement in horizontal visibility. However, the intensities of the rainfall were not sufficient to dampen the prevailing heat stress in the region.

The February Drought and Flood Monitoring Bulletin (DFMB) has been prepared using the WMO recommended Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) technique. During this period, few places in the north recorded scattered rainfall events, which resulted in improved horizontal visibility; but the intensity was not sufficient to dampen the effects of existing heat stress in the region.

The Drought and Flood Monitoring Bulletin (DFMB) for November was prepared using the WMO recommended Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI). The maps represent the 1-month (November, 2017), the 3-month (September - November, 2017), the 6-month (June - November, 2017) and the 12-
month (December, 2016 - November, 2017) SPIs respectively, showing various degrees of wetness and/or dryness across the country.
