The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo (SAN) paid a courtesy visit to the Corporate Headquarters of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency in Abuja. The visit was part of the Minister’s plan to familiarise himself with the Agencies under his supervision.
He was warmly received by the Director General/CEO Professor Mansur Bako Matazu and the top management of the Agency. Welcoming the Minister, the DG/CEO thanked him for taking time from his busy schedule to visit. Mr Keyamo was taken on a facility tour of our Central Forecast Office and the DG/CEO explained how data is generated, collated and analysed in preparation of our forecasts and other products and services.
The minister also visited our Numerical Weather Prediction Unit (NWP) as well as our state-of-the-art weather studio where he presented an update on today’s weather.
In remarks after the tour, he stated that he was highly impressed with the size and processes of NiMet operations and wished the DG/CEO and the Agency well going forward.
