NiMet's DROUGHT AND FLOOD MONITORING BULLETIN SEPTEMBER, 2019

The 1-month Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) reveals mild-to-extreme wetness over parts of Borno, Kaduna, Kebbi, Kwara, Oyo, Kogi, Ekiti, Osogbo, Taraba, Delta, River and Imo states. However, mild-extreme dryness was recorded over Kano, parts of Yobe, Katsina, Gombe, Ogun, Cross-river and Enugu states. The remaining part of the country is under normal condition.

COAST AND MARITIME FORECAST FOR NIGERIA

SYNOPSIS: The forecast is expected to be under the influence of a low pressure system with values 1010 - 1012hPa from the beginning of the forecast. At about 0900 UTC, the system is expected to fill up to value 1013hPa. Thereafter, It is expected to deepen to 1008-1010hPa at about 1500UTC and remain quasi stationary till the end of the forecast period.

SYNOPSIS: The forecast is expected to be under the influence of a low pressure system with values 1009-1012hPa at the beginning of the forecast. A temporary fill up is expected at about 0900 UTC with values 1013hPa. It is expected to return to its initials values at about 1200 UTC and remain quasi stationary till the end of the forecast period.

NORTHERN STATES: Sunny, partly cloudy and cloudy conditions are anticipated over most parts of this region, with slim prospects of thunderstorms over few places during the forecast period. Temperature values are still expect to rise, as day and night temperature values are expected in the ranges of 28 - 37oC and 21 - 24oC respectively.

SYNOPSIS: A low pressure system is expected over the forecast area with values fluctuating between 1008-1010hPa from the beginning of the forecast. A temporary fill up is expected at about 0900 UTC with value 1012hPa. It is expected to return to its initials value at about 1200 UTC and further deepen to 1007hPa at about 1500 UTC; remain quasi stationary till the end of the forecast period.
