The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has been rated 9th Position on the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission’s Annual Ethic and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (ECIS).
NiMet attained the 9th Position in the overall ranking out of Four Hundred and Four (404) Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) administered by ICPC in 2023. The Agency scored 78% and was adjudged 2nd in the Presidency and Extra Ministerial Category.
The Objective of the EICS is to track ethical, integrity and compliance deficiencies in MDAs while proffering remedial actions for the management of these MDAs. Its Administration of EICS started in 2016 with Twenty (20) MDAs with the aim of understanding the quality of statutes and government policy and the level of compliance with ethical standards for efficiency and service delivery.
This is also seen as a vital tool for building good ethical structures in organisations to integrate compliance practices into their systems to reduce corruption in public offices. ICPC’s ranking of the Agency not only places NiMet in good stead of adherence to best practices but also as one that executes government policies.
