Agrometeorological Bulletin No. 25, Dekad 1, September (01 –10) 2018

The 1st dekad of agrometeorological bulletin for September, 2018 shows most parts of the country recorded moderate to heavy rainfall total except areas around Abeokuta, Iseyin, Oshogbo, Dutse, Gusau recorded light rains of below 20mm. Normal to above normal soil moisture conditions were experienced in most parts of the country except places around Dutse, Abeokuta, and Oshogbo where below normal soil moisture conditions were observed. Highest temperature was recorded at Maiduguri (32.50C).

Most parts of the country were in normal to colder than-normal temperature anomalies with exception of places around Dutse, Bauchi, Makurdi, Uyo, Abakaliki, Asaba were warmer than normal day-time temperature anomalies. The Inter Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) is expected to move northward to attain a mean position of 23.00N. Harvesting of maize, vegetables, root and tuber crops are ongoing across some parts of the country.
