Agrometeorological Bulletin No.16, Dekad 1, JUNE (1 –10) 2018

The 1st dekad of agrometeorological bulletin for June, 2018 is presented in this edition. The country recorded slight increase in rainfall total and distribution when compared with the 3rd dekad of May. Above normal to below normal rainfall anomalies is observed across most parts of the country except Abuja, Gusau and Oshogbo which experienced normal rainfall. Highest temperature was recorded at Nguru (41.30C).

Most parts of the northern state experienced warmer to colder while the southern state experienced normal to colder than-warmer temperature anomalies except places around Calabar and Benin which experienced warmer than normal day-time temperature anomalies. The Inter Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) is expected to move northward to attain a latitudinal mean position of 16.30N. Planting across the central states and some parts of northern states are still ongoing except the fringes of the north where land preparation is under way in anticipation of the planting season.
