Agrometeorological Bulletin No.24, Dekad 3, August (21 –30) 2018

The 3rd dekad of agrometeorological bulletin for August, 2018 shows most parts of the country recorded heavy rainfall total with highest observed at Dutse with about 398.8mm of rainfall and lowest over Osogbo with 32.4mm of rainfall. Above normal soil moisture conditions were experienced in most parts of the country except places around Sokoto and Yola and parts of the south west where below normal soil moisture conditions were observed.

Highest temperature was recorded in Nguru (32.20C) and lowest at Jos (24.10C). A large part of the country were in normal to colder than-normal temperature anomalies with exception of places around Ogoja, Abakaliki, Ikom, Warri, Abekouta and Ikeja where warmer than normal day-time temperature anomalies were observed. The Inter Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) is expected to fluctuate between 19 to 21.00N. Harvesting of maize, vegetables, root and tuber crops continue across some parts of the country.
