Agrometeorological Bulletin No.5, Dekad 2, February (11 –20) 2019
The 2nd dekad of agrometeorological bulletin for February, 2019 shows most parts of the country recorded no rainfall making the country predominantly dry. The mean maximum temperature ranged from 29.10C (over Katsina) to 37.70C (over Oshogbo). Most parts of the country were in normal to colder temperature anomalies with exception of places around Oshogbo, Awka, Abakaliki, Ibadan, Akure, Asaba, Ado, Benin, Iseyin, Ijebu Ode, Calabar, Warri, Port Harcourt, Ondo, Abeokuta and Ikom where warmer than normal day-time temperature anomalies were observed.
The Inter-Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) is expected to oscillate between Latitude 90N to 120N. Farmers are expected to intensify dry farming activities (irrigation) so as to take advantage of the available reserved soil moisture.
