NiMet Trains Staff On Strategic Public Relations Management

Staff of the Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), have undergone a two-day training on Strategic Public Relations Management.

Speaking during the training, the Director General/ Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Professor Charles Anosike, represented by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs Funke Adebayo-Arowojobe reminded the participants of the expectations of management from staff of the unit.

“As the corporate reputation managers of NiMet and the interface between the organization and its various publics, management expects staff of the Public Relations and Protocol unit to be abreast of modern trends in Public Relations practice and to apply same in their day-to-day professional roles”. She said that management organized the training just as it has done for other units in the agency to enable staff to update their skills.

Concluding, Mrs Funke Adebayo-Arowojobe said that the training is also in line with the mandate by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, for agencies under the ministry to prioritize staff development. The training which took place between Wednesday, 25th September and Thursday, 26th September 2024, featured modules including Strategic Media Relations, News Writing and Reporting, Social Media Management, Events Management and Public Speaking.
