The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike participated in the recent Technical Coordination Committee (TCC), Strategic Foresight Workshop and Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting, hosted by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). The workshop lasted from 7-11 April 2025.

The meetings' goal was to define the organization’s ambitions, review the WMO's strategic objectives for adequate progress monitoring, and work towards the development of the next WMO Strategic Plan 2028–2031 to shape the organization's future.

The meetings aimed at making the WMO responsive to members’ needs and the challenges of climate change by leveraging emerging technologies, e.g., AI, ML, etc., efficient resourcing of WMO Regional offices, and encouraging members to support each other in capacity development so that no member is left behind.
