Biography

Mr. Henry Omonzojie Airiohuodion was born in Iruekpen, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria. He attended Idumu Omonua Primary School, Iruekpen and graduated with a first school leaving certificate in 1976. Between 1976 and 1981, he attended Iruekpen Grammar School and later in 1985 re-enrolled for WAEC in Araromi-Owu Grammar School, Ikire, Oyo State, Nigeria. Mr. Airiohuodion gained admission into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1986 where he studied Mathematics and Economics and graduated in 1990. He also holds an MBA in Financial Management from the National Open University of Nigeria in 2010. Mr. Airiohuodion’s extensive working careers include: • Research Officer II from 1992 to 1995 at the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). He was involved in data collection on NDE Programme implementation and reporting. He also undertook project assessment visit to determine the project implementation status with a view to identifying viability of the Agency’s projects. • Research Officer I from 1995 to 1998 was engaged in preparation of Research Proposals, Data collection, collation and processing and also project implementation surveys to determine the strengths and weaknesses of NDE Programme delivery. • From 1998 to 2001, he rose to Senior Research Officer and was engaged in the design of survey questionnaires, analysis of data obtained during survey and carrying out analysis and processing of data to give necessary information for project management, etc. • From 2001 to 2004, He was a Principal Research Officer, He served as Desk Officer of the National Economic Development Programme for Africa (NEPAD), participated in the preparation of NDE Periodic Reports and Report of programme implementation survey findings for Management information and effective decision making on programme planning and implementation. • From 2004 to 2007, he became Assistant Chief Research Officer and served as Head of NDE’s Annual Capital Budget and Planning. He was also the Head of ICT Unit in the NDE. • From 2007 to 2013, he was promoted to Chief Research Officer and was involved in the Programme Planning and Development, Preparation of Annual Capital Budget of the NDE. He served as Budget Officer and Secretary to Parastatal Tenders Board of the NDE (Procurement Activities). • He was appointed Assistant Director in 2013 to 2018 where he was deployed to represent NDE in the implementation of Community Service, Women and Youth Empowerment (CSWYE) project of Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment. He also served as the head of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Section. • From 2018 to 2023, he was promoted to the position of Deputy Director (Procurement). He was certified as a Procurement Officer after training and passing the certification examination organized by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) in 2016. • On the 23rd February 2023, he retired from service as a Deputy Director (Procurement). Mr. Henry Omonzojie Airiohuodion was appointed Director, of Corporate Services, Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet on 21st December 2023. He is Happily married with Children.
